Ellis High School placed the highest in northwest Kansas — and 41st in the state — in Niche.com’s ranking of the Top 100 high schools in the state.

Criteria included academic, health and safety, student culture and diversity, teachers, facilities, sports and extracurriculars, and other factors.

Ell-Saline Middle/High School in Brookville placed 11th on the list.

Among northwest Kansas high schools, Ness City placed 45th, Phillipsburg placed 52nd, Russell placed 59th and Scott City placed 91st.
