Girls: TMP 62, Stockton 56 OT
The TMP girls needed overtime on Friday afternoon to notch their 10th straight win and punch their ticket to the MCL Tournament Championship on Saturday night in WaKeeney. TMP led throughout most of the game until Stockton took a late lead, 51-50, off of a Morgan Beougher three pointer. TMP answered right back with a bucket to take regain the lead, 52-51. The Lady Tigers answered back with another three pointer that matched their largest lead of the night, two points, at 54-52.
TMP was able to scrounge up another bucket late and Stockton was not able to get off a final shot at the buzzer. In overtime the Lady Monarchs scored the first four points and never trailed. Melissa Pfeifer and Megan Koenigsman hit two free throws apiece in the final minute to seal the 62-56 overtime win.
TMP will play Hill City in the MCL Championship game around 6pm Saturday in WaKeeney. Stockton will play Norton for third place.

GIRLS HIGHLIGHTS
Boys: TMP 66, Stockton 40
The TMP Monarchs pounded a barrage of pressure defense against the Stockton Tigers in Friday night’s Mid Continent League tournament en route to a 66-40 blowout of the Tigers. The Monarchs trailed early but it was definitely short lived. TMP led by six after the first quarter, 16 at halftime, 20 at the end of the third quarter and won by 26 points.
The Monarch defense forced 23 Stockton turnovers and turned them into instant points on the offensive end. TMP now moves on to face Norton in Saturday’s MCL Championship Game. Tipoff is expected around 7:30pm.
