Anna V. Hamburg passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Good Samaritan Society, Ellis. She was born May 2, 1920 in rural Ellis to John and Mary (Armbrister) Zachman. On August 4, 1946, she was united in marriage to Marvin Hamburg at St. John Lutheran Church, north of Ellis. They enjoyed 64 years of marriage together, until he passed away on January 31, 2011. She was a proud homemaker, farmer rancher, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Anna was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, in WaKeeney.
Survivors include a daughter, Arlene Hamburg of Reston, Virginia; a son Dale Hamburg and wife Olivia of Scottsdale, Arizona; five grandchildren, Scott Sternson, Michael Murray, John Murray, Nicole Robeson, and GiGi Garcia; seven great-grandchildren, Kyle Booth, Ryan Booth, McKenna Booth, Brock Robeson, Cole Robeson, Sami Sternson, and Olympia Sternson; two brothers, Ernest Zachman of Ellis, Harry Zachman of Wichita; and three sisters, Martha Massier of Ellis, Dorothy Dietz of Hays, and Helen Deines of WaKeeney. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister Freida Allphin; three brothers, Oscar, Raymond, and infant Wayne Zachman.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Schmitt Funeral Home, WaKeeney. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery, WaKeeney.
