The state Department of Agriculture and K-State Extension offices from across the state are partnering for five workshops geared to help vendors at farmers markets better market their products.
The first workshop is in Hays Friday, January 30, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kansas State University Ag Research Center.
Linda Beech, Ellis County Extension Agent for Family and Consumers Sciences, said the workshops will provide information for all types of vendors and all types of products.
“There are rules and regulations that apply to what kinds of products can be sold to the public, and if we are talking food products, there are some very specific guidelines and regulations,” Beech said. “We are going to talk about sales tax, vendor best practices, how to set up your display, market your produce or other kinds of products and how to accept credit card payments.”
Registration for Friday’s workshop is $25 dollars.
Beech said it is not too late to register and walk-in registration is welcome, but lunch can’t be guaranteed.

Other worships are scheduled in Atchison, Chanute, Olathe and Pratt.
