HUTCHINSON — Officials in Reno County say juveniles playing with fireworks caused a Wednesday afternoon grass fire.

Reno County firefighters responded to the 2900 Block of Cedar Ridge and found a one acre fire in heavy brush between two homes

The fire took 10 minutes to control, with units remaining on scene for about an hour. There were no injuries.

Officials say it is fortunate there was short grass around both structures to help reduce the loss.

They cautioned that there is extremely dry grass and brush in many areas of the state and any type of fire will grow quickly.
