JOHNSON CITY – One man was injured in an accident just before 10 p.m. on Thursday in Stanton County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2007 Chevy Sonic driven by Ernest Wayne Newton, 26, Vega, TX., was northbound on Kansas 27 eight miles north of Johnson City.

The vehicle went left of center and struck the driver’s side front end of a semi pulling a grain trailer loaded with corn.

The semi went into west ditch and rolled.

Newton was transported to Northwest Medical Center in Amarillo.
The semi driver Hugo R. Garcia-Ramirez, Ulysses, was not injured.

The KHP reported both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the collision.
