Brungardt named Covenant Builders Hometown Hero

Rich Brungardt has been named the latest Covenant Builders Hometown Hero.

According to his nomination:

“Rich Brungardt is not only a great family man, but also a Vietnam (1968 and ’69) and Desert Storm (1991) veteran. Rich was a Specialist 4th Class and 1st Logistical Command in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive. He was in the military for 26 years, including three years in the Army and 23 years in the National Guard. His rank was Sergeant 1st Class during in 1991 when he was involved in Desert Storm.

“Rich was given many medals for his 26 years of service including: the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Award, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Reserves Component Overseas Training Ribbon, SW Asia Service Medal, SW Asia Campaign Medal, etc.”

Brungardt will be honored at Saturday’s Fort Hays State University basketball games. The women’s game against Emporia State is scheduled to tip at 2 p.m., with the men’s game scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
