Hays resident Darrel Goheen used a drone to shoot aerial video of Saturday’s early morning fire at the Heartland Truss Plant, 710 General Custer Road, south of Hays.

One building was completely destroyed; a second one was salvaged, according to Ellis County Rural Fire Director Dick Klaus.

About 30 firefighters responded. The state fire marshal is on the way to Hays to investigate the scene.
