OAKLEY — The Buffalo Bill Cultural Center (Wild West Historical Foundation) received a $634 donation from the Midwest Energy Community Fund spring disbursement. The funds will be used to develop and create corn crop “fun fact” panels that will be installed as educational way-finding markers in the corn maze that will open this fall as well as a permanent outdoor informational panel about corn that will engage and educate visitors about this important piece of the Plains culture.
The Wild West Historical Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation. Its mission is to engage and expose our visitors to the stories, characters, history and landscape that define the Plains culture both past and present. Displays and programs are made possible by local, regional and national support via grants, contributions and volunteer assistance. Over 150 organizations submitted applications for the Midwest awards.
The Midwest Energy Community Fund was created in 2005, and provides funds to activities that focus on youth, arts, education, libraries, community events, and similar projects. Five committees of Midwest Energy customers determine who receives the awards ranging from $50 to $1,000.
