Severe weather is possible beginning tonight and continuing through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
The Dodge City office of the NWS issued a hazardous weather outlook Wednesday that includes much of northwest Kansas.
Beginning tonight, isolated thunderstorms are possible, with the chance of storms increasing in Ellis County after 9 p.m.
Chances for rain or possible thunderstorms increase Thursday and into the weekend, although the NWS said it is still too early to determine the potential for severe weather.
The K-State Ag Research Center in Hays reports just 0.08 inches of precipitation in April, with a mere 1.34 inches of moisture so far in 2015.
