Hays City Manager Toby Dougherty on Wednesday announced Rick Rekoske has been named director of Convention and Visitors Bureau position for the city of Hays after a national search was completed. He will assume his duties May 26.

Rekoske has served as the community development director for the city of Bel Aire since 2013. Prior to his employment with Bel Aire, Rekoske served as finance and marketing manager for the city of Wichita’s Transit Department, and as the community development coordinator for city of Wichita’s Old Cowtown Museum.

Rekoske holds a bachelor’s of general studies and a master’s of public administration from Wichita State University.

“Mr. Rekoske brings energy, enthusiasm, and diverse experience to the position,” Dougherty said. “He has demonstrated a unique ability to create successful outcomes, with limited budgets, by organizing collaborative and creative efforts. He is community minded and will be a great asset to the city of Hays.”

Rekoske will replace the previous director of Convention and Visitors Bureau, Jana Jordan, who retired after 26 years with the city of Hays.
