Phillipsburg resident Fairie I. Gaines passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015 at the Phillips County Retirement Center in Phillipsburg, KS at the age of 96.

She was born in Phillips County on Sept. 14, 1918, the daughter of Alvin & Rose (McDermed) Plymesser. Her husband, Leo Gaines, and two granddaughters, Monica Pineda and Mona Petersen, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her son, Al Gaines, of Smith Center, KS; daughters, Sallie Jansonius of Phillipsburg, Idris Shannon of Miltonvale, KS, Arlis Schild of Sacramento, CA and Connie Martin of Ft. Worth, TX; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Monday, May 18, at 2:00 p.m. in the Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg, with Pastor Dave Pugh officiating.

Visitation will be Saturday from 5-9 p.m. and Sunday from noon – 9 p.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg.
