Kansas man dies in small plane crash in SW Kan.

SYRACUSE – A Kansas man died in a  small plane crash just after 8 a.m. on Monday in Hamilton County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 1981 Yak52 piloted by Anthony Englert, 54, Syracuse, went down near 2800 East River Road just off Kansas 27.

Authorities say the aircraft impacted the ground nose first and traveled a short distance before coming to rest upright.

Englert was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Feller Funeral Home

FAA and NTSB are investigating the cause of the crash.
