The Hays Larks hit five home runs, four doubles and a triple and needed all of them as they rally for a 15-14 win over the El Dorado Broncos Sunday night at Larks Park, salvaging the final game of their four-game Jayhawk League series.
Derrick Mount and Jacob Campbell hit solo homers in the eighth inning to give the Larks the lead back for good. It was the second home run of the game for both helping the Larks to their first league win of the season.
Mount and Campbell both hit two-run homers in the first to put Hays up 4-0. El Dorado scored three in the second then added two in the fourth to tie the game 5-5. The Larks answered with seven in the bottom of the inning to go up 12-5. Derek Dickerson highlighted the big frame with a three-run blast to right field.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
El Dorado rallied with three in the sixth, three in the seventh and two in the eighth to take their first lead at 13-12. They got a solo homer with one out in the ninth to pull within one and had the tying run at third and go-ahead run at first when Derrick Mount recorded the final two outs on a fly ball to center and strikeout for his first win.
The Larks improve to 4-5 overall and 1-3 in the Jayhawk League. El Dorado falls to 6-1 and 3-1. The Larks are off Monday before heading to Haysville for a three-game series starting on Tuesday.
