The Hays Larks rally for three runs in the ninth inning but it was too little too late as they lose 9-4 to the Haysville Aviatiors. The Larks fall to 4-6 on the year and just 1-4 to start Jayhawk League play while the Aviators improve to 7-1 and 4-1 in their first year in the league.
Haysville scored four in the third to take the lead for good then added four in the seventh to go up 9-1. They used a walk and four straight singles to score the four in the third to take the lead for good. They used three walks, an error and two extra base hits in the seventh.
Evan Gruener hit a home run to give the Larks the early lead in the second. He also added a two-run triple in the ninth. Derek Dickerson drove in a run with a double in the ninth. Michael Burns had three hits.
Augie Gallardo takes the loss, allowing three runs on four hits over 2 1/3 innings. Game two of the series is tonight.
