WASHINGTON – Today Congressman Tim Huelskamp (KS-01) will join Congressman Kevin Yoder and the rest of the Kansas delegation in unanimous support of a joint amendment to the Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2016 (H.R. 2822). This common sense amendment would prohibit the Obama Administration from implementing or enforcing the threatened species listing of the Lesser Prairie Chicken under the Endangered Species Act.
Huelskamp has been a leader in the multi-year effort to delay, stop, and overturn the United States Fish and Wildlife Services’ dangerous listing of the LPC. His efforts since 2011 include multiple public statements; pressure on federal bureaucrats; coordinating efforts with counties, the state of Kansas, local farmers, ranchers, and energy producers; public comments in LPC hearings; and legislative efforts like this and the National Defense Authorization Act amendment earlier this spring.
