Before back-to-school officially begins, Hays Area Children’s Center is inviting local families to come celebrate the end of summer at its annual Carnival. The event will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, outside of Hays Area Children’s Center, 94 Lewis Drive in Hays.

The family celebration will include information and activity booths from several community organizations, including Ellis County 4-H, Hays Public Library, Hays Recreation Commission and Hays Police Department with the Ident-A-Kid program. The Nex-Tech Express also will be available for train rides. There is no admission fee.

Children also can purchase tickets at a low cost to participate in a variety of outdoor games and activities for children from toddlers to school-age. Those participating will be awarded a token for each game or activity they complete, and the tokens can be redeemed for prizes at the event. There also will be a hot dog barbecue dinner. Proceeds from these activities will benefit HACC’s playground improvement efforts.
