2 hospitalized after Kan. driver attempts u-turn across all lanes

FRANKLIN COUNTY- Two people were injured in an accident just after 11 a.m. on Friday in Franklin County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2005 Honda Accord driven by Brandon Scott Nelson, 34, Ottawa, was eastbound on Kansas 68 one mile west of the Interstate 35 overpass.

The driver attempted to make a u-turn across lanes.

A 2008 Ford F250 driven by Horace A. Bowden, 57, Wellsville, attempted an evasive maneuver to avoid a collision by driving onto the  left-hand shoulder. The vehicles collided.

Nelson and a passenger Christine Louise Nelson, 41, Ottawa, were transported to Ransom Memorial Hospital

Bowden was not injured.

All were properly restrained at the time of the accident according to the KHP.
