Starter Aaron Fletcher and three relievers combine on a four hitter as the Hays Larks defeat the Wellington Heat 4-2 Saturday night at Larks Park. It’s the Larks first home win over the Heat since 2012 and it evens the key three-game Jayhawk League series at a game a piece.

Fletcher (1-1) allowed just one hit over six innings and picks up his first win of the summer, striking out seven and walking four.
Shawn Hunter, Allan Beer and Keegan Curtis combine to allow two runs on three hits. Curtis pitched the final two innings for his second save, striking out four.
After squandering scoring chances in the first three innings, the Larks scratched across two runs on the fourth on a Brett Anderson two-out single. Derrick Mount and Garrett McKenzie both drove in a run in the fifth as the Larks built a 4-0 lead.
Wellington struck for two in the seventh but the Larks relievers held the in check the rest of the way.
The Larks have won three of their last four to improve to 19-17 overall and 15-15 in the Jayhawk League. They move within 2 1/2 games of second place Liberal in the Jayhawk League North after the Bee Jays 9-3 loss to Haysville.
Wellington falls to 23-12 overall and 16-12 in the Jayhawk South where they trail first-place by 1 1/2 games.
