Kan. woman hospitalized after driver swerves to avoid crash

TOPEKA – A Kansas woman was injured in an accident just after 7p.m. on Sunday in Shawnee County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville driven by April Bilby, 41, Topeka, was northbound on Kansas 4 at Northeast Seward Avenue when it tried to pass a vehicle.

A southbound Plymouth Vibe swerved to avoid a collision with the Pontiac. The driver of the Plymouth Michelle Hadden, 54, Topeka, lost control and stopped in the ditch.

A private vehicle transported a passenger in the Plymouth Shannon Hadden, 54, Topeka, to Stormont Vail. There were no other injuries.

All were properly restrained at the time of the accident.
