Ellis County 4-H’ers are getting set to check-in their exhibits as the county fair kicks into full swing this week.

Check-in for entries starts at 2 p.m. Monday with weight for livestock from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Judging of all of the exhibits begins Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. and then the Shenk building will be open to view the 4-H projects each night, starting Tuesday from 7 until 10.

The sheep and swine shows will be Wednesday, the beef show is Thursday and the livestock auction will be Friday evening at the livestock arena.

Ellis County Fair Board President Jill Pfannenstiel said they encourage the public to come out and support the 4-H’ers.

“4-H is definitely the whole reason for the fair.” Pfannenstiel said “We want people to come out and see all those 4-H exhibits and the animals and watch the 4-H shows.”

The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new 4-H stand will be Tuesday night at 6 p.m.

Entertainment on the midway begins at 5 p.m. each night starting Tuesday and will run through Saturday. They will once again have something for everyone with petting zoo and pig races each night.

The KPRA Rodeo starts at 7 p.m. both Tuesday and Wednesday with mutton busting at 6:30 p.m. both nights.

Musical entertainment on the midway starts Tuesday at 8:30 p.m.

The truck and tractor pull is at 6 p.m. Thursday and the demolition derby is Saturday at 7 p.m. at RPM Speedway.

Friday night’s musical entertainment features the Swon Brothers with opening act Curtis Grimes at 7:45 p.m. The Swon Brothers finished third on the fourth season of The Voice.

The carnival begins Tuesday night and continues through Saturday starting at 6 p.m. each night.
