WICHITA – Law enforcement officers in Wichita answered an interesting call on Friday afternoon.

Police say Patrol West officers responded to report of a three foot long alligator in a front yard in the 300 Block of North Gordon. They taped its mouth shut with duct tape.

Officials say it is being cared for while a search is completed for an appropriate resource to receive it.

Police spokesman Lt. James Espinoza says the alligator did not belong to the people who live at the home where it was found. Police believe it was being kept as a pet until its owner didn’t want it anymore and dumped it in the yard.
