HUTCHINSON -Five people were taken into custody Wednesday after a short standoff with police in Hutchinson.
Authorities say they took two people wanted in Illinois and three people wanted on warrants in Reno County after they either were apprehended or came out of an apartment on their own.
According to Sgt. Eric Buller, police discovered a stolen car from Macomb, IL., at an apartment complex at 3rd and Pershing just before 10:30 Wednesday morning.
As police were searching the complex, one subject came out and informed law enforcement that there were others inside the apartments that were armed.
After about 45 minutes, authorities took three subjects from the apartment into custody.
A fifth was apprehended as he came up to law enforcement from across the street.
The two subjects from Illinois are Jazzman Roberts, who is said to have some ties to Hutchinson, and Brandon Frazir.
Both are jailed on suspicion of possession of drugs and stolen property.
The three suspects wanted on local warrants were Mathew Perez, Charlotte Hover and Trevor Hover.
Police have obtained a search warrant and are going through the apartment.
Police also reported they found one weapon along with drugs and paraphernalia during the arrest.
