Hornets sign undrafted Kentucky star

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Charlotte Hornets signed undrafted rookie free agent guard Aaron Harrison from Kentucky.

Terms of the deal were not released Tuesday night.

Harrison, who spent two seasons with the Wildcats, played in five games for the Hornets in the summer league in Orlando. He averaged 13.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and team highs of 3.4 assists and 1.4 steals while scoring in double figures in every game.

Hornets general manager Rich Cho says Harrison is “a talented young player with a lot of potential and we look forward to seeing what he can do moving forward.”

Harrison played in 79 games at Kentucky, helping the Wildcats to back-to-back Final Fours. He averaged 12.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.1 steals in 29.2 minutes. He was voted second-team All-SEC last season.
