A Tuesday evening front gave Ellis County a soak overnight, with several reports of more than 2 inches of rainfall.
The official rainfall amount for Hays, measured at the K-State Agricultural Research Center, was 1.83 inches.
A report just north of Hays showed 2.65 inches in the gauge Wednesday morning, with the city itself receiving between 1.5 and 1.8 inches of precipitation.
Just west of Ellis in Trego County, there was a report of 2.87 inches, while Russell County also reported between 1 and 2 inches throughout the county.
More rain could be on the way, as there is a 50 percent chance for thunderstorms beginning late Wednesday night.
