While a Wednesday evening front produced some rain for the region, projections of heavy rain fell flat.
Early reports in Ellis County ranged from 0.02 inches just north of Ellis to 0.74 inches in the northwest portion of the county.
Most of Hays received about a tenth of an inch from the front.
Southeast Russell County had a report of 1.35 inches, and Rush County received just less than a half inch. Early reports from Trego County show just trace precipitation. Farther west, reports from Colby showed more than 2 inches in the gauge Thursday morning.
The temperature again is expected to spike on Thursday, with near triple digits expected. There is a chance of thunderstorms developing late in the afternoon or evening.
