Alleged Kansas fugitive arrested in Illinois

JUNCTION CITY -An alleged Kansas fugitive from justice sought after she failed to appear for her sentencing hearing in federal court in San Antonio, Texas in early May, Heidi Lynn Webster, Manhaattan, Kansas,  has been arrested in Urbana, Illinois.

Junction City Police Chief Tim Brown reported he was notified by the U.S. Marshals Service Thursday that Webster, members of the Marshal’s Service had arrested an ex-Army physician.

Webster was sentenced in May to six years in prison for Army contract fraud.

After she did not show up for sentencing authorities put out a call for the public’s assistance in locating and apprehending Webster, who has ties to the Manhattan / Junction City area.  She and retired Army Master Sgt. Lawrence Peter Fenti of New Braunfels pleaded guilty in 2014 to conspiracy and bribery counts.

Fenti formerly was chief administrator for Brooke Army Medical Center’s radiology department, where Webster worked. Prosecutors say the pair provided false information to fraudulently secure military contracts for two Kansas companies run by Webster.

In September, Fenti was sentenced to four years in prison.
