Police identify man who drowned in Kansas pond

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Authorities have identified a man who drowned in a pond in Shawnee County.

The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that 52-year-old Marty P. Artzer of Topeka drowned Tuesday night. Emergency crews found Artzer at the bottom of a pond. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The sheriff’s office identified Artzer early Wednesday and says it’s investigating the death as an accidental drowning.
