ODESSA, Mo – Law enforcement officials are investigating a fatal Sunday accident that took the life of a 9-year old Kansas girl and seriously injured four other people just before 6:30p.m. in Lafayette County Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2001 Nissan Maxima driven by Maria G. Macias-Perea, 33, Kansas City, was westbound on Interstate 70 just east of Jackson County. The vehicle traveled off the right shoulder, began to skid, overturned multiple times and ejected two children.

Melanie Ayerim-Macias, 9, was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Nadler Fuller Funeral Home.

Silba Aguilar-Macedo, 36, and Michelle R. Trejo-Macias, 6, both of Kansas City were transported to Centerpoint Medical Center.

Macias-Perea was transported to Truman Medical Center.

Karla V. Noyola-Macias, 3, Kansas City, was transported to Children’s Mercy.

Only the 3-year-old was properly restrained at the time of the accident according to the MSHP.
