Kansas man dies in semi crash UPDATE

EMPORIA – A Kansas man died in an accident just after 2 a.m. on Tuesday in Lyon County.

The Kansas Turnpike Authority reported a semi driven by Michael Daniely, 58, Raytown, MO., was northbound on Interstate 35 ten miles south of Emporia. The truck slowed due to a pedestrian on the road.

Another semi driven by Michael Lyden, 39, Wichita, rear-ended the semi and caught fire.

Lyden was pronounced dead at the scene.

The pedestrian was unharmed.  The accident closed both northbound lanes of the turnpike for several hours on Tuesday.

EMPORIA – Law enforcement officials are investigating a fatal accident in Lyon County.

The Kansas Turnpike Authority reported the crash involving two semis occurred early Tuesday ten miles south of Emporia.

Both northbound lanes of the Turnpike at Cassoday were closed for several hours.

The accident clean up was underway just after 7:30 a.m.
