The Downtown Hays Market will no longer be open Wednesday evenings.
According to a news release from Downtown Hays Development Corporation Executive Director Sara Bloom, there has been a “lack of attendance from the vendors” on Wednesday evenings.
“The Downtown Hays Market Committee and DHDC Board have made the decision to postpone the Wednesday night markets effective immediately,” Bloom said.
“We are looking at other options and will continue to work at making the DHM the best market in town,” she added.
A special Wednesday evening market is scheduled for Sept. 2. “We have a special FHSU Market Planned that evening complete with free shirts, a visit from Victor E Tiger, and a presentation on how to eat well on a budget,” Bloom said. Fall classes at Fort Hays State University start Monday, Aug. 17.
The market will continue to be open Saturday mornings, 7:30 a.m. until 11 a.m., in the parking lot at 10th and Main Streets. It is scheduled to be open through October, vendors, produce and weather permitting.
