John Johnson

John JohnsonJohn Lewis Johnson, age 87 of Hays, died Saturday, February 14, 2009, at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born on November 23, 1921, in Ellis County, Kansas, to Sophus and Bertha (Brown) Johnson. He married Marjorie “Marge” Henn on December 2, 1945, in Hays, Kansas.

John was a graduate of Ellis High School class of 1939 and he attended Fort Hays State University. He was a U.S. Army veteran entering the service in 1946. After his service detail he became a long-time Ellis County farmer.

He is survived by his wife Marjorie of Hays;a son, Tom Johnson of Hays; four daughters, Leigh Mabb and husband Gary of Hays, Carol Wood and husband Gale of Russell, Becki Johnson of Grand Island, Neb., and Christine Dietz and husband Perry of Russell; ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two sisters, Margaret Boschowitzki of Ellis and Mary Higgins and husband Sam, of Midland, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert and Charles Johnson, and one sister, Alice Fleming.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Brock’s North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine, Hays.
