
SOUTH HUTCHINSON- One of two men suspected in a Kansas home invasion, where gunshots were fired, made a first court appearance on Friday. while the second suspect remained at large.
Thirty-two-year-old Charles James Lee Swepston, Hutchinson, was jailed on suspicion of aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery and battery charges for an incident that happened Friday morning. He has not been formally charged.
South Hutchinson police were called to a home shortly after 7 a.m. Friday and were told two men had forced their way inside and demanded money and anything of value..
The two victims said they fought with the intruders before one of the suspects left and came back with a handgun, firing twice but not hitting anyone. The suspects fled in a small, green pickup but an officer found and arrested Swepston.
South Hutchinson Police Chief Scott Jones says they arrested the second suspect Jesse Aich Friday afternoon at the Kwik Shop at 5th & Monroe in Hutchinson. The arrest is in connection with the incident early Friday morning. He was arrested without incident and will be jailed on the warrant as well as any new charges.
