The National Geographic news service published a story this week highlighting the efforts of Plains Elevated Convection at Night, a Hays-based group focusing on the study of storms at night.
The $13.5 million effort was financed by the National Science Foundation, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, NASA, and the U.S. Department of Energy, according to the story.
The PECAN group wrapped up a study of night storms in the area on July 15.
