HIAWATHA – A Kansas man is in custody in Brown County for an alleged assault with a hammer.

Police are still looking for the hammer and asking for help to find it.

In a media release, the police reported they believed the tan-handled hammer was dropped in someone’s bushes, yard or trash cans in an area between Oregon Street and 4th Street and between Utah and Delaware Street.

The victim of the assault was treated for injuries and released. A short time later officers arrested Devin Hall, 22. Hiawatha. He remains in custody.
