SALINA – A Salina man is in custody on charges stemming from an incident on July 5th at Salina Regional Health Center.
Salina Police say Haydyn William Best, 20, is charged with domestic battery for pulling the hair of an acquaintance at a central Salina home.
When officers arrived, Best made suicidal threats and were taken to Salina Regional Health Center.
When getting out of the patrol car at the hospital, Best ran from officers, but was quickly caught.
While in the emergency room, Best ripped a biohazard container off a wall and damaged a cabinet door.
Best also blew a mucus discharge from his nose that hit a police officer on the hand and uniform. He told the officer he had a deadly disease.
Damage to the container and cabinet is estimated at $500. The officer was treated and released.
Best is being held in the Saline County Jail on requested charges of aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer, domestic battery, damage to property, and obstruction.
