HUTCHINSON -An elementary school in Hutchinson was placed on a brief lockdown Tuesday morning.

Police say officers were called just after 10:30 a.m. to Advance Payday loan, 921 E 4th Street, for a reported robbery.

The male suspect was believed to have been armed and fled on foot

As a precaution, McCandess Elementary School at 700 North Baker Street was placed on lock down.

While the school was not believed to be in danger, it was close enough that the officers were concerned enough to believe a lock down was necessary.

The school was released from lock down after officers were able to search and believed that the suspect had left the area.

Police continue to investigate the robbery.
