BUNKER HILL–Smoky Hills Public Television’s summer reading program Share a Story visited 68 communities in central and western Kansas this past June and July. Over 1,500 children attended the 76 presentations held at local libraries.

During the Share a Story presentations, children watched a clip from a PBS Kids program, listened as the presenter read a story and participated in a craft project. Share a Story is part of Smoky Hills’ education initiative. The purpose of the program is to encourage children and families to read, with each child receiving a book to take home.

Smoky Hills Public Television’s three educators, Anita Butler, Jennifer Doll and Cris Wilson, partnered with local libraries to provide this popular summer reading event.

“We want to thank the libraries for working with us on this event,” said SHPTV General Manager Michael Quade. “We also appreciate all of the time and travel that our educators gave to making the program a success.”
