Stuttgart resident Charlie R. Long passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015 at the Logan Manor in Logan, KS at the age of 95.
Charlie was born January 16, 1920 in Washington County, Kansas the son of Alonzo & Etta (Odle) Long. He was a WWII Army Veteran. He owned and operated Charlie’s Repair Shop in Stuttgart for many years.
He was united in marriage to Sophia Merklein on January 16, 1947 in Stuttgart, Kansas. She survives.
Other survivors include his son, Larry Long & wife, Eloise of Hays; a daughter, Janice Solida & husband, Rick of Phillipsburg; a brother, Clarence Long of Linn, Kansas; 6 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2015 in the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stuttgart, with Pastor Lee Bennight officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.
Mr. Long will lie in state from Noon until 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, 1115 2nd Street, Phillipsburg, KS 67661.
