Officials report Kan. school district’s computer system hacked

hackWICHITA –Law enforcement authorities in Sedgwick County are investigating a cyber crime.

Wichita Public School reported in a media release a hacking attempt of the USD 259’s computer systems.

The extent of the attempt is unknown. There doesn’t seem to be any evidence that it involves student records, according to school officials.

Law enforcement and an outside cyber security agency are working with the school district to determine the extent of the attempt.

As a precaution, some of the district’s computer programs have been taken down while they evaluate the systems during this investigation.
