Free holiday cheer stations to fuel holiday shoppers

The holiday shopping season is an exciting time of year and even the most loyal shoppers may need a boost of caffeine to help them through the early morning deals of Thanksgiving and Black Friday sales.

To set a new tradition for this anticipated shopping event, the Hays Area Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the Downtown Hays Development Corporation (DHDC), Hays Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) and the United Way of Ellis County to offer “Holiday Cheer Stations.”

Each of us want to say thank you for keeping the cheer here this holiday season by shopping local.

This year, Holiday Cheer Stations will be set up in three different locations throughout Hays during Thanksgiving and Black Friday retail sales. The stations will serve free coffee, hot chocolate or tea to shoppers during the following times and locations:

  • Thanksgiving Night from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Walmart Supercenter
  • Friday, Nov. 27 from 8 to 9 a.m. on The Bricks in Downtown Hays at the Fox Pavilion
  • Friday, Nov. 27 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Big Creek Crossing in the Center Court

We hope the Hays community remembers to shop local and “Keep the Cheer Here.”

Your purchases are what keep local businesses around. If just half our city would spend $50 each month in a local business, it would generate considerable revenue for Hays. Nearly half returns to the community through taxes, payroll and other expenditures.

The mission of DHDC is to foster awareness and promote Downtown Hays as a vibrant center of commerce, recreation, arts, government and history that serves the people of Hays, the surrounding region and visitors from around the world.

The mission of the Hays CVB is to market the City of Hays to potential overnight visitors by promoting to individual & family leisure travelers, conventions and groups, sports and recreation events, motor coach tours and to encourage special community events; and to service those travelers while visiting our city.

The United Way’s mission is to positively impact lives by strategically channeling community resources. The United Way’s work is focused on the building blocks for a good life: education, income, and health.
