Unseasonably warm temperatures this week in Hays have resulted in a new record high temperature for December 9.

According to the K-State Agricultural Research Center south of town, the temperature in Hays reached 73 degrees, zooming past the old record of 68 degrees set in 1990.

One year ago in Hays , Dec. 9, 2014, the high temperature was just 36 degrees.
