Thomas Larry Lovewell passed away Sunday, December 13 at Village Place Nursing and Rehab, Port Charlotte, FL.
Tom was born June 17, 1936 in Lovewell, KS the son of Thomas W. and Mildred (Ballard) Lovewell. He graduated 1954 from Dodge City High School and received a BA in English from Kansas State University after serving in the US Navy as a communications specialist.
On December 1, 1961 he married Norma Jean (McMillan) Aborn, widow, in Miami, OK. Subsequently, on July 13,1973, he married Anneliese (Bohn) Reinert in Port Charlotte, FL.
He was a journalist and worked for several Kansas newspapers, including, the Bonner Springs Chieftain, the McPherson Sentinel, as district editor for the Salina Journal and later for the Topeka Capital-Journal. In Florida, the Punta Gorda Harold and retired after serving as the editor of the Labelle, FL newspaper. In retirement, he enjoyed working for Walmart, Punta Gorda, FL, in the fishing and hunting department, which was a life-long passion.
Survivors include his wife of the home, three sons, Orrin Lovewell and wife Becky, Olathe, KS, Bill Lovewell and wife Lori, Hays, KS, Tom Lovewell and wife Robin, Hays, KS, and step-son Edward Reinert and wife April, Port Charlotte, FL, and four daughters, Rhonda ‘Susie’ Lovewell, Bethany, LA, Dawn Gabel and husband Alan, Lake Quivira, KS, Prairie Lovewell, Olathe, KS, Jane Young and husband Mike, Hays, KS, and step-daughter Donna Reinert and fiancĂ© James Swanger, Port Charlotte, FL and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife.
