ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Missouri Western hit 10 3-pointers and outscored Fort Hays State by 12 at the free throw line as they beat the Tigers 74-68 Thursday at the MWSU Fieldhouse. The Griffons (6-12, 4-8 MIAA), who came into the game as the worst shooting team in the MIAA, connected on 52-percent in the second half and 47-percent for the game as they end a three-game losing streak. The Tigers (13-5, 7-5 MIAA) have now dropped three straight on the road.

The Tigers used a 7-0 run to build a six-point lead early in the second half but the Griffons answered with a 23-8 run over the next 10 minutes to go up nine. Kyler Kinnamon hit a 3-pointer to pull FHSU within one with 3:42 to play but that was as close as they would get.
Rob Davis led four Tigers with 15 points. Craig Nicholson added 13, Dom Samac 12 and Kenny Enoch 10.
Xavier Newson scored a career-high 25 to lead MWSU. Trey Sampson added 21. Both hit four 3-pointers, going a combined 8-for-14 beyond the arc.
