RUSSELL — The Relay For Life of Russell County will host the second annual WorldWrestling Xpress fundraising show “True Champions.”
This year’s event will take place Saturday at the Russell High School Gym. This event will also coincide with the 2016 Relay For Life Kick Off, which is the start of the new Relay fundraising season.
Any team, new or old, interested in helping in the fight against cancer should register their team by Feb 6. Also anyone that has heard the words “You have cancer,” is invited to register as a Cancer Survivor. Registration forms can be found at http://relay.acsevents.org.
All registered team members will receive half-price tickets for the event. All registered Cancer Survivors will receive free admission. The event will start at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 6 with a special meet and greet for all Ring Side Ticket Holders. The meet and greet will consist of an autograph session with the wrestlers and a special photo session. The doors to the gym will open at 6 p.m. for general admission and the first bell will ring at 6:30 p.m.
There will be a concession stand featuring BBQ from Screwloose BBQ. Money raised from ticket sales and concessions will go toward Russell County Relay For Life, which will be held June 11.
The night will be filled with lots of great family entertainment in several matches with lots of wrestling action from the stars of theWWX. Some of the returning stars from last year’s event include: Danimal, Flex Reed, Merrick McMichaels, Skyler Slice, Hasan Payne and many more.
The Main Event of the evening will be a battle between two former WWE Superstars for the WWX Heavyweight Championship. Trevor Murdoch will return to Russell to challenge the current WWX Champion Rodney Mack.
