By JEREMY McGUIRE

Girls:  TMP 77, Phillipsburg 54

TMP fell behind early in Phillipsburg on Friday night but quickly made up their ground.  After trailing 6-2 after a couple of Katelyn Swanson three pointers TMP scored seven in a row to take a 9-6 lead and would never trail again. The Lady Monarchs led 15-12 after the first quarter and extended the lead to 35-28 at halftime.

The third quarter was big for TMP. The Lady Monarchs outscored Phillipsburg 26-12 in the third quarter to take a commanding lead heading to the fourth and picked up the 77-54 win.  Tatum Bartels led the Lady Panthers with 21 points.  Swanson added 11.

TMP had four in double figures led by Madyson Koerner’s 22.  Megan Koenigsman and Kayla Vitztum had 14 apiece and Melissa Pfeifer scored 12 on four three pointers.  TMP has now won 12 in a row and will host Great Bend on Tuesday.

Peyton Hoffman led TMP with 13 points to help beat upset minded Phillipsburg on Friday night.  The Monarchs were playing in front of an excited Panther fan base as the game tipped off and it only got louder.  Phillipsburg used a late three pointer to take a 17-12 after the first quarter.

The Panthers would extend the lead to 23-12 early in the second quarter before TMP kicked things into.  The Monarchs would end the half on a 19-5  run to take the lead at the break 31-28.  TMP was able to stretch the lead to as many as eight a couple of times in the fourth quarter but Phillipsburg refused to wilt away.

The Panthers cut the lead to one early in the fourth quarter and TMP responded with five straight points to stretch the lead to six.  That proved to be enough cushion as the Monarchs won 59-49.  Phillipsburg sees their four game win streak come to an end.  TMP improves to 13-3 on the season and keeps an unblemished Mid Continent League record at 7-0.  The will go out of conference and host Great Bend on Tuesday.
