TMP-Marian baseball sweeps Scott City

SCOTT CITY, Kan. – A good start to the season for the TMP-Marian baseball team as they sweep Scott City in their season opener Tuesday. The Monarchs rallied from an early 3-0 deficit to win the opener 11-3 then scored 13 runs in the first inning and cruised to a 17-1 win in the second contest.

The Monarchs scored all of their runs in the first game in the final four innings including a six-run fourth. Chase Werth went 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBIs. Jared Rack goes six innings for the win, striking out five and walking one.

Jared Vitztum and Chase Romme each had three of the Monarchs 18 hits in game two. Both drove in three. Jared Rack, Luke Ruder and Chase Werth all homered. Ricky Hockett pitched an inning of relief and picked up the win.
