PHILLIPSBURG, Kan. – The Norton boys and the Ellis girls took home the first place trophies from the Mid-Continent League Track and Field meet Thursday in Phillipsburg. The TMP-Marian girls were second, six points behind the Railers. The Monarch boys finished fourth.
Alexcia Deutscher of Ellis won three gold medals. She won the 100 and javelin and was on the winning 4×100 relay. Teammates Ashley Mattheyer (high jump, 4×100) and Abby Burton (triple jump, 4×100) had two golds.
Melissa Pfeifer led TMP-Marian, winning the 800 and 1600 meters. The Moanrchs also took first in the 4×100 relay.
TMP’s Andrew Hess won the 1600 and 3200 on the boys side.
