HYAS, Kan. – The TMP-Marian baseball team closed out their regular season on a three-game win streak after a pair of six inning run-rule wins over Colby Thursday at TMP-Marian.
The Monarchs score 14 runs on 16 hits and overcome four errors in a 14-4 win in game one. In game two they score 13 runs on 12 hits and overcome five errors for a 13-3 victory.
Ricky Hockett and Jared Vitztum both had three hits in the opener and Chase Werth drove in three and scored three times. Hockett went four innings on the mound allowing two runs on two hits with three strikeouts and two walks for the win.
Chase Werth homered and drove in three to lead TMP in game two. Ryan Ruder doubled and also drove in three. Ruder allowed three unearned runs on four hits with six strikeouts and no walks for the win.
The Monarchs finish the regular season winning eight of their last nine and take a 15-5 record into the regional tournament where they will play Scott City Monday at 5 pm in Larned.
