HAYS, Kan. – The Hays Monarchs Junior American Legion baseball team opened their season with a pair of wins over Dodge City Wednesday afternoon at the TMP Field. The Monarchs won 7-3 and 10-0.

Luke Ruder was 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs in the first game as they score four in the first in game one. Chase Werth and Tate Garcia combine on a one-hitter.

Cole Zimmerman allows two hits in game two with three strikeouts and a walk. Eston Brown and Brayden Mader both drive in two.

The Monarchs travel to Beloit Friday.
